Pedadogical Contents
A teacher's pedagogical content knowledge determines whether learning the concept of a topic will be easier or more difficult for students to understand. Pedagogical content knowledge plays an important role in shaping the conception process and identifying students' preconceptions in the classroom.
These are the pedagogical content that is used in Future School:
Teaching Method
History is often assumed to be a boring subject. At Future School the teacher can use as many methods as they like. Based on my observations, teachers usually use lectures and group teaching methods. For every history lesson, students are required to read the textbook for about 2 minutes. After that, the teacher will explain the lesson interspersed with questions and also a quiz. Not only that, but the teacher also uses videos, photos, and audio during the lesson to make the learning feel more alive and the examples explained become clearer.
Learning Materials and Innovation
The classrooms already provide good facilities for the learning process such as:
Future School provides history textbooks for every student and teacher as learning material. Students have to carry it with them every time they want to enter the class.
Teachers explain the material using whiteboards and books. Teachers also use TV to open PowerPoint and play video or audio related to the material.
Authentic Assessment
Assessments used by teachers vary, the teacher assesses students based on cognitive when students succeed in answering questions from the teacher, doing assignments, and correct when answering the quiz, the teacher will give a grade.
Besides the teacher also observes the attitude of students when the learning process by assessing the affective students. Finally, when students present the results of the discussion the teacher will give a psychomotor value. The teacher will give grades to students according to what students have done.
Student evaluation is throughout the whole process. Student evaluation is not for ranking and achievements, but for the information to provide appropriate solutions for the subsequent educational processes. The form of assessment is lively, attractive, stimulates creative thinking, and does not cause pressure or burden to students.
