The Twists and Turns of Demo Teaching Preparation
I stayed at Dong Thap University, Cao Lanh for about 3 weeks. The first week focused on observation and introduction to the campus and the city of Cao Lanh. Meanwhile, the second week was the week to prepare the lesson plan. The third week is the week of lesson plan demos.
While making the lesson plan there were twists and turns that I faced, but all were overcome with the help of many parties.
So, here's the story.
At the beginning of the second week, I was sick for 4 days. This illness was enough to bring all my activities to a halt. The difference in weather and also the lack of eating fiber foods made me fall ill. Fortunately, I was able to get through it all. I would like to thank everyone who took care of me when I was sick. After my condition started to improve, I finally started preparing my lesson plan.
The lesson content I received from my supervisor was all in Vietnamese. But all that I can overcome with the existence of Google Translate, I can easily scan photos of books in Vietnamese into English.
In addition, I was also helped by friends from the history department to check the correctness of my translations. Not only that, they also helped me find books related to the content of my lessons.
My supervisor, Ms. Nhung played a very big role in the success of my lesson plan. She always checked and gave feedback on my lesson plan and PowerPoint. There were many wrong words in Vietnamese that I translated using Google Translate. Therefore, with her presence, everything became easier. She was also willing to share photos related to lesson content from her collection.
My Indonesian friends and I also helped each other in making lesson plans. We often work on lesson plans together in the reading space or library. We also practiced teaching together.
This process really helped me to prepare myself to be a good teacher in the future. Being a teacher is not easy, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. Every job has its own challenges.
